The Hansen Health Academy

I conceived, outlined, wrote and produced a technical communication video series and accompanying handbook for a Yukon-based personal trainer. Here’s the first video in our series.

Language lessons.

For my day job at Carcross/Tagish First Nation, I’ve produced a series of language videos with our all-star actor Gary Sidney Johnson.

Tomb Raider.

Ilze and I wanted to make a Tomb Raider video, and what better pair for that than one of our local businesses here in the Yukon, Klondike Kettle Corn?

Whitehorse Dating.

As the pandemic continued, I was watching reality dating shows and got the bright idea to try to create a version of that for Whitehorse. Originally, I wanted to set up blind dates and film them, but getting two people together was proving a challenge, so we switched to video profiles. Alex and Eric were my guinea pigs, and I know at least one of them got a date out of it.

Gift drops.

During COVID-19, I thought it would be fun, and sanitary, to make gift boxes of items from local businesses and drop them around town before people woke up, letting them be found as anonymous presents. It worked pretty well for the Halloween shoot, and then we did it again to advertise the Spruce Bog market.

Me on film.

And sometimes I make videos of myself.

Ilze is a pro model.

Here she is repping Two Brewers Whiskey and, um, serial killing of teddy bears? Ilze is awesome and game for anything, and she adds so much life to shoots by not being afraid to inject her own personality and mannerisms.

Yukon Built.

Here’s a couple of videos I made for Yukon Built’s Land of the Midnight Fun clothing line, featuring pretty much all the friends I had made so far in these gigs.

Summer and fall.

Chelsey and I hiked Grey Mountain in the summer for a shoot with Firebean Coffee Roasters, and then I reached out to Delilah to show off Delta Debz earrings in the fall. She had the modelling down pat, but the funny behind-the-scenes part of that shoot was how many shots I had to throw out because of flies! Yukon falls are beautiful, but buggy.

Maureen the natural.

Maureen is a natural model, needs no instruction at all. What I love about working with her is how she executes long takes and we get some cool extended clips. Here’s a couple shoots we’ve done, one for the Fireweed Community Market, and another for Pretty Little Beads.

Chelsey started it all.

I wanted to stop making corporate videos for work and start having fun, and I knew Chelsey from interviewing her back in the day for Tusaayaksat Magazine. We got together for a shoot for Ukiuq Designs and then another for Yukon Built’s clothing line for Yukon University. Chelsey has a fantastic attitude and is constantly laughing. Seriously, the biggest challenge shooting with Chelsey is getting her to keep a straight face.
